this game is so immersive that ive started to pee in bottles while i play for hours on end! i feel like a true trucker gettin the trucker experience when i do and also It feels nice 😄
A good fun, realistic, trucking simulator. Nothing more to say.
I was a trucker from 1960 until 2002, when I had to retire because of my eyesight. I am 84 years old.
When I retired, my only daughter bought me a computer with a copy of the game Mid-town Madness, to keep me occupied during my retirement, and I had played it for 20 years until the computer stopped turning on.
My daughter passed away during the china flu pandemic, but last week my grandson Jack showed me American Truck Simulator and gave me his old computer to play it on. Thank you Jack. This game has reminded me not only of the good times I got from Mid-town madness but of good times gone by, when I was a trucker. Even though I proudly voted for Trump on all 3 occasions to escape Californian communism, a decision I will never regret, I enjoyed a life driving through all of Cali during my golden years. This game has brought back those good memories.
I play this game on my grandsons old computer, his steam profile that he calls his "troll alt", and a steering wheel that I have plugged into my computer. The screen is my TV.
Playing American Truck Simulator is like a part-time job, even though it doesn't feel like one. Progress is slow, but once you've saved enough to buy those coveted new tires, it all makes more sense. It might be worth waiting for more areas, but if you've always dreamed of a great American road trip, American Truck Simulator is the best way to do it without having to do the real thing.
the game does what it says it is to perfection. my favorite simulator game, step one, make coffee, step 2, open spotify and pick a pod cast, step three, launch ATS and forget about life for 750+ hours. the developers are great which many games lack these days. if you like trucking and or simgames you'll love this.
If You Have interest on American Highway with surrounding various scenery ( But everything about miles) and American Truck Styles, You Should to Playing this one
Chill trucking game. More fun if you get a wheel and pedals, it makes the game even more fun to play and relax on!
it has traffic fines... what did you expect I'm going to say it has trucks?... well obviously it has that too
By default, I don't usually play sims. I'm just not wired that way. I gravitate toward shooters or fantasy in my video game experiences, not realistic and sometimes monotonous recreations of the real world. And I certainly don't wake up fantasizing about hauling 20 tons of fertilizer from Dallas to Fresno. Yet I've been hopelessly addicted to American Truck Simulator and the breathtaking scenes and time cycles it has, not to even mention weather effects and tunes on the radio.
Not worth it unless you want to douse your wallet in lighter fluid for DLC
Do not what it is like driving semi truck of any sort. What really enjoy it makes myself feel that driving on road with semi and see for myself the travel that semi in day. In it is so relaxing for me. I like to drive places too. and to music like to listen. They make for non talented video game players like myself. Bonus is all theses different states you drive though. Thank you so much making a great game to the makers of the game and developers. Cant wait to see more DLC STATES
Over 330 hours in and still loving it. ATS is my go-to for relaxing and exploring. I use a controller, everything runs smooth, and I’ve got two saves—one with a realism mod, one for building a trucking empire fast.
The newer states like Missouri and Arkansas are great, and the California rework is solid too. Progression is easy, which I enjoy when I just want to chill. No major bugs either.
If you’re into laid-back games where you can just unwind and drive, this one’s a must.
This game is a worthy successor to the 18 Wheels of Steel franchise. It's all about driving a truck and doing deliveries to grow your trucking company. There is no real end goal, but the game is still hard to put down.
I love American Truck Simulator! This game isn’t just a simulator — it’s a way of life. Every time I launch it, it feels like I’m behind the wheel of my favorite Peterbilt, heading into the sunset along the endless highways of America.
I’ve already driven thousands of miles, built my own trucking empire, know every exit on the I-5, and can recognize the sound of each truck by ear. The attention to detail is incredible — engine sounds, changing weather, realistic navigation — everything is crafted with love and deep respect for real truckers.
What really makes me happy is how the game keeps evolving. New states, new features, community support, mods — it’s a true celebration for every fan. I wait for each new DLC like a kid waiting for Christmas!
If you haven’t tried it yet — start your engine and hit the road. American Truck Simulator isn’t just a game. It’s the road, the freedom, and the soul of a trucker.
I like the game but seeing how much money I'm going to spe- I mean, seeing how much money all the DLC costs in comparison to the cost of the game is just downright depressing. I waited to buy the game on sale because I thought the original price was too high for what the game is... should have checked the DLC first. You start with 3 states, which isn't bad except California sucks because speed limit is only 55. I quickly stuck to only Nevada and Arizona, but it gets a little cramped without buying at least a couple more states. I've already bought 2 and may end up buying all- I mean a couple more of them :(
Just don't do it.
Havent played in months due to health issues, go to play today and updated have wiped all 160 hours of my play history profile. its all there in world of trucks but no way to access it in the game now
5/5 – A Surprisingly Relaxing and Addictive Experience!
I’ve been playing American Truck Simulator without any DLCs, and I have to say—it’s an amazing game even in its base form. The attention to detail in the environments, the realistic driving mechanics, and the chill vibe make it super enjoyable whether I’m doing a long haul across states or just cruising through a small town.
The game nails the feeling of being on the open road. The radio stations, the engine sounds, and even the traffic AI add to the immersion. It’s not just a driving game—it’s a vibe. There’s something really satisfying about planning your route, managing your fuel and fatigue, and delivering cargo on time.
Even without the map expansions or extra trucks, there’s a ton of content here. You can build your trucking empire from the ground up, customize your rig, and really get into the role of a professional trucker.
If you’re looking for a relaxing yet engaging sim game, American Truck Simulator is absolutely worth it—even without the DLCs. I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but now I’m hooked! 5/5
This game is also as good as Euro Truck Simulator 2 but i don't know why. I can't explored this map until 100%, I stuck at 99.99 % (I not buy any map DLC's)
Game runs fine until an update; then it is hours of diagnosing until you can drive again. Should be called; American Truck Game Diagnostics.
I can't stop playing its like drinking habits you want to stop but the only keeping me from stopping is because i ran out of snacks and my poor wallet is more empty then my sole 10 out of 10 would recommend
game is amazing. really one of those games you can just get on and turn your brain off after a long day. only complaint is that the AI needs updating. other than that, amazing.
Doing things takes way too long. Takes like 30 minutes to travel 6 hours in game.
Absolutely in love with American Truck Simulator! The way it captures the vast American highways and iconic landscapes is breathtaking. The day-night cycle and weather effects create such immersion—nothing beats watching the sunset over the Arizona desert (I swear I even saw an UFO) while your favorite radio station plays.
i love the over all dynamic of the game, traveling the world without actually traveling the world in real life. see new states that ive never seen before. i wish they would add more real life things
like th best GAME ever,,,,, 10/10 you SHOULD PLAY....... trucker americana
If your into the big rigs of the United States. This game is for you. Very fun and attention grabbing game.
I used this to pass my CDL road test, (I'm using the G923 steering wheel with clutch and the elgato stream deck for dashboard controls + Meta Quest for more realism) this is one of the best games for truck driving that I've ever played hands down, there are some differences with IRL trucks and the trucks here, but it almost feels like 2nd nature when I got out of here and used a real truck for the exam
It's a great to play and you'll have so much fun! The game also has in-store mods you can add to make the experience even better, and it's worth it. This game can get boring after some time, to be honest.
One of the best games i have bought many years ago and i still play it with almost 1,000 hours great game to play with friends
Ok game gets really boring after about 40 hours I play it maybe every two months at this point for about 1 delevery and then forget about it for a month wouldn't buy if it isn't on sale and wouldn't buy any dlcs they are just a waste of money to me.

I was really thrilled with it , loved customising Trucks and buying garages so I could get a whole fleet, this took time, not to mention a lot of time spent not actually playing but getting it to work properly as I dare to use mods. When the game is COMPLETE (NO MORE UPDATES) it will rock, but after building a fleet and buying garages getting mods to work together, they decide they will update something useless or remedial that changes the version as to have you start ALL OVER again or wait for updated mods that may not come , loosing trucks, carers , progress in general, also tired of PULLING IN spaces at truck stops and having to back out blind... if you cant back in get out of the seat ! no realism there at all !
it was great but RUINED with constant tinkering and fiddling to keep it working, ultimately to loose everything or play your bare bones boring version of this game with NO mods
NO MODS = BORING
GETTING MODS TO COINCIDE = Frustrating but worth it
LOSS OF PROGRESS = INFURIATING
When you guys get all states done and no more updates = AWESOME !!
Until then theres other games - im done
I just love this game, the way you can literally start your own tucking business, and OMG the landscapes, feels like the whole game is on google earth sometimes, but so much better. I love that you can drive around for hours, even if your not taking loads and just look at the landscape. It amazing, i can't wait to see how much further this game goes. I also am totally a fan of the state that i live in being in this game, and how they are moving across the states one at a time and taking into consideration what's around them as they go, i'd love to see more routes ones day, but for now i love it over all.
This game is very fun to play. At first, you get to start off slowly building your way up into a trucking empire, making the game therefore very fun to play. I would recommend this to people that love to realistically drive around and just spend time by yourself for a bit. You can also put in mods which allow different things to happen within the game. I would recommend checking YouTube though for more realistic mods, since I don't remember all the ones I have put up on mine. But seriously! This game is a blast!
Love it, though I rage a lot on my trailer getting stuck on stuff....... anyways I highly recommend, it is very fun game!
SCS Software have excelled themselves yet again with another engaging truck simulator, this time, is the wilds of North America with its arid deserts, epic mountains and long highways that captivate and enthral you. This is just a fantastic experience and the love and passion the developer has for its chosen subject shows. 10/10 for me, everytime.
I've never driven in a game that felt so close to real life, the detail and world is honestly incredible and with a racing wheel / shifter it can entertain me for hours. Steam workshop is in the game so lots of free mods can easily be added to your game.
ats is fun 100% recommend but pls make all states free i dont wanna go into bankrupt thanks :)
Great game .Have been waiting a very long time to get a pc and enjoy this game and was not let down. highly reccomend playing with wheel set up.
Played with both a Quest 2 and a Quest 3 over a Link cable. The Quest 3 experience is noticeably improved over the Quest 2. VR + steering wheel is truly the way to go for this game - you can shoulder check and take in the scenery as you drive in ways that you just can't on a monitor.
Now I've been thinking about writing a review for American Truck Simulator for quite some time. Ever since I started playing it a few years ago, I feel that SCS did a fine job developing this game and its associated DLCs. How good did it turn out? Let's find out:
Pros:
-The menu music
-The variety of trucks you can drive. My favorites are the International 9400 and Mack Pinnacle
-The route maps, which are filled with impressive scenery and some historical markers.
-The Driving Academy
Cons:
-The trains. Although the Amtrak trains and Big Boy in Cheyenne are praiseworthy (despite it not being this rusty in real life), the BNSF and UP trains were kinda disappointing. I can understand why this was done, but it just doesn't feel that authentic in my opinion
-The questionable fines for turning right on red. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's a bit of a head scratcher when it does
-Some Special Transport Missions, as I've occasionally had a hard time parking the truck upon arrival at my destination.
Small criticisms aside, this game is pretty enjoyable. From eye-catching scenery to accurate tractor-trailers, this game certainly deserves some recognition. Therefore, I rate this an 8/10.
I'm a trucker and i really enjoy this game. i really enjoy cruising around the small but remarkably accurate scaled down versions of familiar cities. the trucks are awesome and feel great. mods make the game sound much better. funny to get out of my semi truck and come home and drive around in a game.
I truly love this game. Its nice to just chill and drive and check out the sights. Plus the economy is totally unrealistic so your bank balance is always going up and damn does that ever feel good. Its nice to fantasize about putting in a days work and actually having something to show for it.
You can play with a controller but it really comes alive with a steering wheel and pedals with a stick shift.
It would be intimidating to come into it today with all the DLC but if you start with the base you wont even need the DLC right away so just add more states as you go slowly.
fantastic game absoloutly in love with it i could drive forever and i will hahah
Still a bit new to the game, first few jobs seem alright though! I feel like I might need to put in a couple more hours to get the real feel to the game...
Very detailed. Paid mods take it to the next level !
Incredible game. All the places I live are accurately represented. The amount of detail and effort that goes into this game is amazing. I am having the time of my life exploring the United States.
ATS is one of the best Simulator programs that I have ever played. It is extremley entertaining and I Will absolutely be recommending ATS to every and all of my friends and family.
I've been a fan since 2003. 18 Wheels of Steel "Hard Truck" was my first game. Next was the 18 WOS "Convoy" game, there was ETS 1 and GTS. I can say about the degradation of the games in the series. The reputation was in the "Hard Truck", and expensive goods could not be taken at the very beginning. You can't buy a fancy truck without a reputation; there was also the management of the company;
There was a walkie-talkie in the "Convoy", which you can use to communicate with the AI, which warns you about the weather, traffic jams, and the police. In ETS 1, it is necessary to obtain a license for the transportation of expensive goods (gasoline, various acids). This was not the case in the GTS, but there was Germany, which migrated to the default 2nd part.
I don't see an advanced simulation in 2025, it's an arcade game. The weight of a loaded truck with a full stop is not felt. The virtual world is cardboard, empty, and brusque.
Photos and videos appeared. Today, it's trends to mention the Forza Horizon - play the 'Top Gear' in the FH4' series take a look and make an opinion on how a PC-game introduces you to a brand in a 10-minute trip. In a short time, they will also introduce you to the area you are traveling through. There is no tourist guide for the player with the history of the city (maybe a couple of photos from the 20th century would not be superfluous).
The maps ATS are beautiful, fascinating, and detailed. I have repeatedly looked through Google maps. Impressive! I don't mind the money for the map-dlc. And it's all !
I don't understand the hype of bloggers around the steering wheel of the DD-base. The ATS feedback is at the Logitec G27 level (which is no longer supported). There's nothing to do here on DD-base, and I'm against calls to buy EXPENSIVE equipment for this game that doesn't disclose half of the money spent.
Take the example of feedback from iRacing, or at least Richard Burns Rally. There are old engines there, but they are more successful in terms of feedback than yours. On an expensive or cheap steering wheel, there is no feeling of asphalt on your hands.
I don't like that the game in the vanilla version requires modification of mods. This should be handled by programmers and developers, for whose product we pay. The famous TES-series opened access to modders just to understand WHICH mods the players liked. And what should be included in the next new game! As of 2011, Skyrim already included the most popular game mods of the time. An example is the light in the windows of houses, live dialogues in which the NPC moves, and much more. That's what the modder's community looked like in 2000's.
And today, the modders community is offering me to buy engine sound kit for $5 on MAN or Scania in ETS 2. Or for 49.9 dollars for a Kenworth truck for ATS. For reference, the laser-digitized model in iRacing sells for $12.95 (and it doesn't need to be finalized, but it will be relevant for 3-5 years). There is also a 20% discount after the purchase of 40 items.
In ATS after a small update it is necessary to update all mods!
The game has boring gameplay: there are no active police, no mafia, no hidden roads, no smuggling, no bribes, no racing, no active market takeover, and you can't even meet your own drivers in a single-player game. Boring to the point of outrage.
I bought all the add-ons and I regret it, because the only way to attract the attention of this company is not to buy ANYTHING.
It was a good addictive game for 2004. For 2025, given the experience of iRacing, ACC, Dirt Rally 2.0 versus ATS is a boring game that doesn't require expensive hardware.
And yet: there is a wonderful game "Hard Truck 2: King of the Road". Here we have already talked about HOW make "a silk purse out of a sow's ear" in terms of gameplay for ATS. But you hardly need it. You have no competitors. And it's sad. I think it's my turn to finish my review.
I understand that the series is alive, and that's great! But this is definitely not enough.
