its just as amazing as how i remember playing it when i was very little
This is a charming yet somehow disturbing puzzle game with astoundly good atmosphere and soundtrack. It's full of fun secrets and funny ways to abuse the physics to complete levels. It brushes against societal and consumerism criticism, in a light, you-can-find-meaning-if-you-want way. Overall a fun experience with very creative puzzles presented in a charming yet mysterious way.
Fantastic indie game with a sense of humor
I should admit to sign-painter...
Back in 2009, when I was 10, I do really skipped 1 or 2 levels on 5th stage
Some kids grew up playing polybrige, there probably now rocket scientists or engineers, but not me i played world of Goo as a kid and now im on the path to homelessness 10/10
World of Goo is a puzzle game where you build strange, wobbly structures out of goo balls that stick together. Very fun short game.
it starts out alright, but when it starts trying to challenge you with the puzzles, most of the frustration isn't from actually trying to work around the physics to build a connection but 90% of the time will be that the game wanted to trick you with the order of building. For example there will be a big gap of fire and you have matchstick goo and regular goo. You'll have to both build a bridge to cross the gap while keeping the matchsticks from being lit, but what you may not initially notice is that the fireproof goo needs to go on top in order to maintain a connection after you have to purposefully light the matches. If you don't notice this then you will have to start the entire level over again. This is opposed to some of the better puzzles where a spinning spike block needs to be built around with your goo in order reach the top.
Whenever the game tries to get more complicated it just gets more frustrating from annoyance rather than there actually being a puzzle. I think the only time I ever really had an "aha moment" was when I had to figure out how to lower a bomb to a specific level in order to destroy 2 walls that you then need to cross using the hanging thread. That's an incredible puzzle. It's just that most of the puzzles after the first world or 2 are going to be more of the former example than the latter. When I reached the digital realm I just decided to call it quits. It became about flinging the goo instead of actually building and so it just became click drag click drag and then they decided to expand upon this by having "corruption" that will make some of the goo red instead of green which will be important for the 3 layers of what you need to approach. Hope you didn't waste half an hour of your time flinging THESE green orbs when you needed THESE orbs to be RED orbs so your GREEN orbs can go over HERE but some of the orbs need to go HERE first and you might THINK you need to reset, you can't be sure since you don't know exactly how many of each orb you'll need to use or if they all need to be red at all since we won't let you survey the area unless you fling and stick some of the goo everywhere just to make sure you have a bad time.
Couple these frustrations with the actual game and then realize that the game both doesn't have an options menu to turn down the volume forcing you to either lower the entire volume for your pc or stick with the shitty soundtrack blaring over everything else on your system, and ALSO HAS THESE SETTINGS IN THE FILES that also are carefully laid out and explained thoroughly how to change these settings that you won't find unless you google how. Like holy shit, you put all this effort into laying out a file for people to find in order to let them change these specific settings and you couldn't just, like jesus christ if you needed 5 extra months just to make a menu system take the 5 months over whatever the fuck this is.
What makes that even worse is that the file doesn't even fucking WORK anymore, if it did at all in the first place. Setting the sound value to 0 doesn't do shit, setting it to 5 doesn't do shit and setting it to 0.5 doesn't do shit.
My god, and if you thought that maybe the story carries any of this over the top, it really doesn't. This game can't fucking figure out if it wants to be the most frutiger metro ass motherfucking "stick it to the man" story about how "like if you think about it dude, like we're all just like cogs in the machine and like dude really like WE'RE the products in society like if you think about it." OR if it wants to constantly playfully poke at how the game is here just for the sake of being a game with constant signposts that'll say things along the lines of "oh don't worry in like level 4 the mechanics are going to be more interesting whatever that means but I'm sure you understand - the sign painter" or something meant to be poking fun at the game itself being a game. You can't have it both ways, if you wanted to have a message about society, as fucking on the point and shoved down your throat as it is then stick to that, if you wanted to have a video game ass game that's made just for the sake of providing the players some fun puzzles then you should lean into that and do literally whatever you want with the setting design and gameplay, even if the way the game itself is right now probably wasn't restricted at all by the premise it has currently, which should speak volumes to just how toothless and on the fucking nose most of the story is. They'll just jump between murky goo swamp to beauty pageant to fireworks from the top of a tower to idk the internet and stonehenge and it'll still all have the bottom line of "like dude society like kills our spirit if we like live inside their machine you gotta like get out of the system because like it's bad cause like they'll kill you and stuff for money or something?" You know this because they'll constantly remind you how the story exists so you don't need to worry about misunderstanding, forgetting or even not caring about it. You'll be constantly reminded regardless!
Look the first few hours should be an alright time for anyone, and to be genuine the game isn't bad enough with all of this to probably keep me from maybe finishing it if I have nothing to do for a big chunk of time and need something kindof simple and easy to pull out. It's just so full of annoyances and problems that I don't think I'd even recommend paying 5$ for it, maybe 1-3$ but I feel like so much of the game actively fights against you to play it, and when I'm this critical about the story as well, it's just not something that I can recommend from the position of my personal experience with the game.
Loved it as a kid and still loving it going on 30 <3
One of the greatest childhood games i've ever played
Long Time Favorite. Casual Strategy. Excited to see they've just released a 2nd one.
great game
World of Goo is a puzzle game where you build strange, wobbly structures out of goo balls that stick together. Your goal is simple: connect the goo balls and get them to a pipe. As you progress, the game becomes more creative and challenging, with new types of goo and clever level design. There’s also a bit of story in the background, mostly told through signs left by a character called the Sign Painter, who adds a bit of mystery and humour along the way.
Pros:
- satisfying gameplay - connecting goo balls and watching your structure grow is pure fun… at least until the wind, spikes, or some other deadly danger tears it apart
- creative level design - one minute you’re building a bridge or a tower, the next you’re destroying massive goo beauties just to cram them into the tiny pipe
- many types of goo - some stick, some fly, some salivate, some are too big to fit in the pipe - they each add something new to the game
- fun goo sounds - their little "wees" and squeaks are somehow very satisfying
- the Sign Painter adds character - their witty messages are sometimes funny or just odd enough to make you curious
- nice storytelling - it’s simple but engaging, and keeps you interested about what’s going on
- great music - the soundtrack really sets the mood and makes the game feel more special
- nostalgic and classic - it’s one of those games that sticks with you (pun intended) over the years
- GOOd memories - I used to play it on my phone late at night under the covers as a child, and it still reminds me of that time – back when phones were half their size and my spine didn’t make that weird crack when I stood up
Cons:
- the visuals haven’t aged well - the graphics look old now and they can be a bit rough on the eyes
If you’re looking for a puzzle game that’s both challenging and oddly relaxing, World of Goo is definitely worth a try - it’s a classic for a reason! Sure, the graphics might not have aged perfectly, but the game’s charm more than makes up for it. If you’re ready to dive into a bizarre world full of goo balls, give this game a go. I promise you’ll have a GOOd time!

Goo
Hasn't aged a bit.
Very fun and cool puzzle story game. finished this game 10 years ago but after all this game still feels fresh and unique
Played this game back in 2010 because my parent thought it was cool, and bought it again 2 weeks ago because of nostalgia. It was definitely worth it. The same charm and vibe hits me every time I hear all of the ost and the levels I still had memories of finishing/unfinished when I was still in Elementary. It's amazing how a simple puzzle strategy tower building game has this much impact on me even all these years. But ngl, these OCD fucking sucks sometimes :p. Beside that, Thanks for being there for my childhood :3
Played this game back when it was on windows vista, got it again on steam, super fun puzzle game, simple concept but honestly that is the good part about it.
this game is a good childhood memory.
I fucking love World of Goo
Devs did an epic exclusive on wog2
An absolute delight of a little puzzle games. I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone.
fun game
Is the world of goo, is nice.
I adore this game and it's art style. So excited for world of goo 2 :] !!
I'm surprised EA never bought and destroyed this game with in app purchases pay to win and ads.
Played this Game on my Desktop and the time when it was released there was not many platformers with such a great detail on 2d physics. The game has so many levels that you get to clear and get completion tag as a acheivement. The levels are not very hard and dont demand your impulses and compulses to get 100%... still there is challenge and your time as well as some stress can be handled.
Graphics
The game is 2D game which has good details on game objects, there are translucant game object and game effect which blends with backgound nicely. The colors on these game objects as well as background can convay good amount of situation as well as atmosphere of level. The textures on objects of certain gameplay feature are indicative such that you can get a idea, for example black goo balls are simple entity where gray when picked by mouse shows effect of pull on certain other gray ball, green shows similar effect towards black, gray or other green balls of removable attachment. pink is also passive where red ones are explosive. chain-reaction with combination of these balls of goo is also convayed nicely. Wind efect is also nice with indication on direction.
Physics
It has realistic physics on goo balls such that it falls, rolls and bounces with deform on certain surfaces. Structure that we build to clear level has bridge building characteristic and we need to understand atleast a basic knowledge on whether certain iteration of user's imagination of bridge, overpass or platform structure is stable or not. then level can get cleared very easily. structure deforms as well on certain levels with enviornmental effects. The pulls that is programmed on goo balls with physics engine is very similar to springs... and visible to great extent when there is a level of hanged figure, item or puzzle that require building a hanging structure. Tower building is also involved to reach a certain height and goal destination.
Gameplay
Goo balls can be picked, thrown and moved with mouse. The 2D physics engines Laws greatly provide realistice behavior on these items. The drag and drop moves is used to build, solve these physics puzzles. There are bugs-Entities on game level which when used, undo's a previous move and error can be corrected with flashy quick screen effect. Timing is also taken in notice to give 100% completion Tag but always it is not neccessory to progess and experience the story of this game. The levels are populated with sign-boards that provide Hints, messages, story quotes and statements to smartguys then level can get cleared with good focus and game experience...
Sound
The sound on these game is addictive and can provide you focus to solve a puzzle... Atleast i have not experinced a situation where i need to mute the sound track to clear the clutter and noice to be on puzzle solving... still some times backgound enviornment's clutter is more satisfying than actual sound track. once i liked no sound track, peace-full scenario to solve a challenge.
Overall It is a Great game with physics to experience and dosent need great hardware configuration to play...
PC-Version

Great game!
YAY GOOD GAME.
Great little puzzle game, excited for World of Goo 2 after all these years.
the music is poppin because the contrast of the simple gaming and the orchestra!
No volume settings.
Respect the classics
I played this game a long time ago and it was a lot of fun.
I can't imagine there are more family-friendly casual games available right now.
The modding scene for this game is surprisingly full.

GOO GOO GOO GOO GOO GOO GOO
my small children like this game
A brilliance in puzzle design back when puzzles were rarely using jello physics (look it up).
I prefer the mobile version because there is a extra degree of challenge by misplacing with touch. Makes it funner if you enjoy fun via frustration. Some do.
Yep, these guys also predicted some of the issues the modern gaming industry has normalized. For that alone, I recommend.
Fun to play

Disturbed Fun
Um dos melhores jogos existentes. Atemporal. Atmosfera incrível e puzzles super divertidos. Uma obra de arte. - O pintor de placas.
A fun physics game overall for a simpler time. There are some dated aspects such as frustrating due to limited rewinds, lack of settings without editing game files, and fiddly choosing certain overlapping Goo.
