Freelance mariner Jack Carver is cursing the day he ever came to this island. A week ago, a brash female reporter named Valerie had offered him an incredible sum of cash to take her to this unspoiled paradise. Shortly after docking, however, Jack's boat was greeted by artillery fire from a mysterious militia group swarming about the island.
With his boat destroyed, his money gone, and the gorgeous Valerie suddenly missing, Jack now finds himself facing an army of mercenaries amidst the wilds of the island, with nothing but a gun and his wits to survive. But the further he pushes into the lush jungle canopy, the stranger things become.
Jack encounters an insider within the militia group who reveals the horrific details of the mercenaries' true intentions. He presents Jack with an unsettling choice: battle the deadliest mercenaries, or condemn the human race to a maniac's insidious agenda.

I played this game back in the day and it blew me away. Having come back to it I can still recommend it but only just, simply because the last patch they gave this game messed up the AI and enemies, making the game MUCH HARDER. Seriously this is like dark souls for FPS games. There's mods that allow you to get past this but unfortunately I found out about them when I was already near the end. You don't really notice it that much for most of the game but some moments (swamp on rails part and final boss ) are brutal.
I don't know if it's worth playing for someone's first time, maybe if you like the novelty of an old game that started a franchise. But otherwise for old guard FPS gamers it's worth a shot.
Acting and story is not worth much, just salad dressing. the music does its job, the gunplay is fun and the general jankiness of the AI and death animations are actually funny.
got some great memories, only thing left to add is the achivements
Tell me another game where the enemy ai can both stand next to you doing nothing while also spotting you from across the map and shooting you through walls.
I can't say I recommend to play this game if you are interested in it's story, it is a highly difficuly game even in medium difficulty, and as people have said the last three levels are just stupidly difficult, almost impossible to do without cheats, but to each their own.
Down when it comes to the plot and story I personally enjoyed it even if I really didn't understand what was happening most of the time.
Game freezes sometimes and I had to restart a checkpoint to get Val to move, but I like her so she gets a pass.
For an old game I gotta say the graphics are nice to look at and it runs pretty smoothly.
The Far Cry series is famous for it's open world games, but Far Cry 1 is the only game that's non-linear. For a game that came out in 2004, it still looks extremely impressive. The gameplay is extremely fun as well and it makes me feel like an action hero with a big machine gun cutting through hordes of enemies.
Far Cry 1 does have it's flaws though. First of all, you need to download a couple of mods to fix the AI and allow widescreen support. The difficulty in the final few levels feels extremely artificial to me, the game throws the tankiest enemies at you and give them rocket launchers.
Other than those few issues, it's a solid game and I highly recommend giving this game a try.
Played on Linux (Xubuntu)
Hey you in the shirt!
Far Cry is basically a cheesy 90's action movie in video game format. It ends as abruptly as it begins.
A cookie cutter story:
Retired and then recently un-retired super special forces action hero. -- Yes
Evil genius developing something evil on remote tropical island. -------- Yes
Endless mob of hired goons to shoot through. --------------------------- Yes
Blowin' stuff up. ----------------------------------------------------------- Yes
Hot babe. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Yes
Betrayal ------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes
Revenge ------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes
Besides the slightly cheesy story the gameplay is pretty solid. The game changes as it progresses and forces you to adapt your tactics to new threats and mechanics. Some of the missions especially the last couple are pretty difficult. There's a decent variety in the levels ranging from jungles to small islands to large underground facilities. I found that it was longer than I expected but didn't drag or feel overly repetitive.
It's easy to see how Far Cry was seen as revolutionary when it first came out with it's large, wide open levels full of trees and vegetation, realistic water and water reflections, vehicle combat both on land and at sea, object physics and semi-smart enemy AI. It obviously doesn't keep up technically and graphically with modern games but it's still a fun, challenging and sometimes frustrating game that any FPS fan should try.
I know that there are a lot of reviews and discussion topics about how horribly broken the game and enemy AI is but it's really not as bad as they make it seem. Yes enemies can see you through tents and office cubicle dividers but they're only encountered a handful of times. You can usually play around that bug without much issue.
This game was peak until the last 3 missions. The ass-fuckery is just unreasonable there. Also, the game features stealth mechanics, but enemies literally see you from across the map and can even hit you with regular ARs like that. It's still solid, though, a lot of attention to detail I didn't expect to see in such an old title. The gunplay was also surprisingly good. 7/10
so much fun to replay this game after all these years. works really well on recent pc, decent graphics. I forgot how hard this game was, I died at least a hundred times...
good game plenty of missions dragged a bit tho save yourself the trouble unless you want the challenge just go an easier difficulty its very hard but very rewarding
Absolutely love the difficulty, you die quick! The shooting is super satisfying, with multiple paths to approach each encounter. The atmosphere in the jungle levels is top-tier.
Not like the newer Far Cry games, this one's raw, tactical, and way more intense.
I watched VideoGameDunkey's video on this game and I thought it would be chaotic but fun. And it's chaotic for sure, but unfortunately I did not have a great time playing this game. Enemies seeing you and shooting you through walls was funny at first, but it gets old really quick. The gun-play is okay, but I found myself just using the assault rifle for almost every situation, only switching off when I didn't have time to reload. The stealth in this game is pretty spotty, but I'll chalk it up to my growing impatience that I had.
I liked the overall game concept, it reminds me of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune a little bit, so while I have never played this game before it looked nostalgic. The open map approach to objectives is pretty neat too; wish more contemporary games did that. But with all that being said, there were just too many technical problems for me to enjoy this title. Hopefully I can come back to this later and feel differently.
Extremely tough game even on normal, stealth is not an option so dont try it XD
From 2004 standards, its a masterpiece, nut from 2025 standards, its Janky and frustrating. But is still a cool game. Had to use several mods to make it fun. But yeah its a classic
[SPOILERS] (summary and overall review at the bottom with no spoilers)
STORY (7/10): The story was pretty decent with a solid plot line. It was a little confusing around the middle but i did take a break from playing for a week or 2. The game starting you off putting you in the middle of a random island and the only real goal was trying to kill the villain then BAM, the entire island is filled with these horrifying humanoid creatures doing all your health in one hit making some parts of the game have high tension due to no passive healing. Doyle's betrayal at the end was pretty predictable but also surprising at the same time. Jack Carver, the main character had the cheesiest bits of dialogue ive ever seen. The ending also is left in a void but i heard online they planned another game but didnt follow through due to ubisoft buying the rights
GAMEPLAY (3/10): i cannot hammer down on how bad this gameplay is due to its time, but the AI is ATROCIOUS. They can literally shoot you through walls and have aimbot. this game was so unnecessarily hard even playing on normal. the checkpoints seeming so rare to come across and with having no passive healing it can be a nightmare. The boss fights were pretty bad too, barley felt like a boss.
GRAPHICS (4.5/10): for a game made in 2004 its got some pretty okay graphics, has good vibrant colours for the brighter levels as well as dark and gloomy lighting for the darker levels. it really sets the scene for being on a tropical island and invested with trigens.
SOUNDS (5/10): the music is what you would think from any action shooter from the early 2000's, its good, but i wouldnt say its catchy. The ambients was pretty creepy at some points in the darker levels but also quite tropical reminding us as the players that this is on an island. some of the enemy's noises got very repetitive having the same voicelines and same grunting from the trigens.
SUMMARY: i would say the game is okay, i would only recommend the game if you wanted to experience all the far cry games and see how they have evolved over the years. if you do decide to play it keep in mind it is old and doesnt follow the same formular as the far cry games we know and love. if not however, you wont really be missing out on much.
OVERALL RATING: 5.5/10
Update back to 1.33 for a solid gameplay as it was always meant to be! In current 1.4 state, the truck mission on realistic difficulty can't be completed no matter what.
While it might be interesting to play to get an understanding of the series' roots, the story is too trite and the gameplay too archaic to be enjoyable by 2025 standards.
Pretty dated at this point, was fun in its time. worth maybe a couple bucks
game goes from being fun with fair enemy placements to making you fight 500 of each enemy in a single room with zero cover and no break, but still i suggest giving it a go.
This game is amazing but the npcs are horrible they are tricky and can see you through walls. And be ready to fight armies your just a single dude in an island with weapons
I was playing on realistic. A PIECE OF SHIT EXPERIENCE,
full of shit bag with bugs, when AI see you through the walls
dropped on a car mission (mission 17)
cutscenes are awful
I remember a day when this was considered the best-looking game released; or at least in the conversation. People even claim it’s better looking than Half-Life 2. They would be wrong, but at least there was conversation. Looking at still images, this does not come close to holding up to Half-Life 2, especially the human models, but the lush jungle design and physics were descent second place.
I quite like the story here, as bizarre as it is, and would not mind a sequel to THIS Far Cry. But the gunplay… oof. It is rough. Aiming and recoil KILL the experience. It is probably the worst thing about the game along with the quick save feature (that’s on YOU to figure out).
The series ended up evolving from a straight forward narrative into a sandbox experience, but a lot of this game’s mechanics were kept and improved over the sequels. Like the binocular enemy tagging, vehicle driving (land and water) and the exotic landscapes.
I do kinda wish they bring back Jack and his red shirt for another round with the Trigens.

There's a bug in the "Prier" level: you need an explosive and a card to enter the Armory, but even with both, the Armory door won't open. Even when loading the autosavegame, this happens again. They won't fix this bug, and it ruins my game experience.
Spectacular game, but keep in mind it was made in 2004 so the graphics are outdated and the shooting is kinda clunky. this is my first experience in the series, the thing I hated the most is that I can't control volume in-game.. I have to use their sound setting in the menu (this is a basic issue, Ubisoft should easily fix that) there are some serious flaws in the game like enemies shooting you through camp barriers but you can manage to pass it with several tries

this game definitely deserves a remake
This game is so terribly amazing it hurts. This game pisses me off so much. I love this game. Trigens in the Volcano level and the Swamp chase scene (before I knew that you could switch to rockets.) These two parts will give me permanent PTSD. As if I didn't think the swamp chase scene was bad enough. You think you can throw 4 Trigen at me with GOD AI and then like 6 Literal Mutant Demons from DOOM???? I killed the 4 Trigen and then moved onto running into the back of the level, activating the elevator and booking it without killing a single one of those 6 HELLSPAWN. As they were launching rockets at me I managed to make it up to the final leg of the game. This is where Doyle's men somehow decided to blow themselves up. I finally get into Doyle's room and shoot him in the head. This is why this game is amazing. Within that time I had tried that Volcano segment like I dunno... 20 times? Maybe more??? Perseverance is key in this game, and I pulled through!!!! I had no idea there was a community patch for this game. I'm used to crazy AI from playing other shooters like Tarkov and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. so this was comparable in difficulty. I would recommend this game for veteran FPS gamers, other than that, gooooooood luck beating this without the patch.
Its good, but the ending was anti-climactic
Sooo the game is old and played like old shooter. Even in normal diff had some part that were difficult so would recommend playing at easy or normal.. It had some parts that made me go wow, story didn't make much sense and felt kinda repetative at end. Giving it nice 7½/10, play if if u want nostalgia or just enjoy shooters.
Its so bad that its good
well its bad like really a lot of bugs
but the voice acting is absolutly amazing
6.8/10
Oh! my f God, what did i just witness should i praise this game or talk shit it deserves both, cant believe this was released in 2004 the graphics are pleasing to my eyes, the different types of guns, throwables and can you believe it you can drive aswell that just makes this super fum to play.
and for the bad part this game is so freaking frustrating some times, somethings you cant even find where to go, or how to kill a freaking monster thats doesnt give up, but as you keep playing you find there weak points and boom they are no longer a problem.
linear story game Fans do give it a try, it will worth it. 7.5/10
Fuck ass game. Dogshit. Clunky piece of shit controls. I shoot a literal fucking machine gun at an enemy and rng? my "terrible" aim? too far from target? and its like im throwing dust particles at them. They are in the middle of butt fuck egypt and are sniping me WITH A FUCKING AR. How? Legit how? I get shot through a tent wall, which makes sense but i cant see them and they dont know im there so uh yeah BULLSHIT. i fire with an rpg or grenade launcher. Nope! Multiple button presses for the gun to fire. Maybe its my peripherals? Maybe? Or maybe this game is like a million years old and im bitter. (Ding ding ding) But when the rpg finally decides to shoot, not only is it a fuck you because you shoot now for what? i wanted to shoot a year ago. But there is also the fact that the RPG, A ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADE. ROCKET PROPELLED. slowest fucking moving projectile. I could throw my shit at a wall and itd land faster. I should not be able to shoot an rpg and chase the projectile. the fuck? not to mention shooting while on a vehicle, holy shit. Terrible. Id have an easier time fighting a gorilla with all my limbs tied together. Nevermind the fact that out of a volley of bullets a fraction of them will do anything, but oh my lord bro can I aim? am i allowed to aim? I have to fight for controls AND lead my shots. Im on the swamp mission right now(hence this sperg rant) and this dumb fucking slut kate or karol, whatever her name is, takes FOREVER to get in the car. So i have to wait but i dont mind that in all honesty, it gives me 3 FUCKING MINUTES to line up the grenade. But then she gets in the car, 1st car down, empty the minigun into the 2nd car and and lose half my health, whilst (still) fighting the controls. But this useless bitch just can not drive, at all. No zigging, no zagging. Just a straight line so we can both die. but maybe thats better because then my aim wouldnt be as shit as it would be with constant swerving. And im also okay with this? kinda? but im playing on normal difficulty and for some reason, just everyone has aimbot. I imagine in realistic difficulty id be playing against seal team 6. Im in a moving vehicle and i get lasered, evicerated. Maybe its my fault for trying to drive/steer past more than 0 enemies so thats deserved for me to die. The car minigun is okay so far, I can get past the first 2 cars but then im getting chased down by a helicopter and its just like damn. but whatever . its alright. 6/10
TLDR:
The boat and swamp levels are really shit and not fun and make me very mad. but the game is aight. Try it. or dont. idc
Great game. Replayed it in 2025 after last playing way back when it came out. The AI has some weird quirks. Apparently the latest patch introduced the AI bugs "seeing you through objects" and was never fixed. Has great gunplay and physics, especially keeping in mind it came out in 2004. Very Refreshing to play when most games today are mediocre in comaprison
Although this game is 21yrs old, I still find it a good game to play, by all means it's not perfect.
But it's good for what it is, and how things quickly change as you progress through the game.
From fighting random guys to special forces, then like of something out of resident evil.
I'm playing this for the nostalgia, and I've got to admit I'm currently enjoy it.
This is type of game that you can play it how you want to play it.
Again this might not be everyone cup of tea as they say, but to me older games I felt offered more game play, as to the games today 9/10 don't really offer actual story game content.
Due to everything just about been MMO.
Didn't play very much of this game so I have no context if the story was any good or not. However I found the gameplay to be extemely challenging. Even on easy I was obliterated fairly early in the game. I'm sure with some patience and practice I'd get it, but after 78 mins of playtime my frustration got the best of me. Lol. If you like challenging games this is for you, however if you like playing on easy just for the story, U have no chance. lol.
Incredibly challenging, rewarding, and ultimately amazing experience. I played on medium the entire game and haven't been challenged by a shooter like this game really ever. It almost feels like I'm playing CS:GO comp story mode the entire time. Very old school feel. Fun story.
Has loads of bugs and enemies shoot right through the green tents in the jungles beware.
Came again to relive childhood memories when I used to play this game... But this time finished the game... I would say that the story was epic, the weapons, the atmosphere, characters, villans were very good.... This game was really ahead of this time and this game was really the best fps game at that time..., Enjoyed the game , 10/10.
Up there as one of the hardest games I've ever played, and that's after the using the mod to fix the AI. I think I would've just cried trying to beat this without that patch. Despite its difficulty and obvious flaws as an older game, there's something charming about its style and game play and I had a blast the whole way through.
OVERVIEW
The first Far Cry game is one of the OG FPS, 20 years old now but it still holds up well to this day.
You play as Jack Carver a former special forces operative turned boat captain, who takes on a seemingly simple job transporting a journalist to a remote tropical island. However, things take a drastic turn when his boat is attacked and destroyed by unknown forces.
Generally, i enjoyed playing the game, it CLEARLY shows it's age, but I still had fun playing
THE GOOD
Firstly, for a 20 year old game, Far Cry 1 looks fantastic! Of course compared to games of today it feels like you are looking at a bunch of polygons, but I KNOW that there are plenty of games from the same time period that look terrible compared to Far Cry, the settings also have a great vibe to them (although the jungle and island settings have an identical look throughout the game) and the indoor settings, especially when you get to the labs and tunnels mid way through the game genuinely made me feel nervous.
Performance wise I didn't have any issues with the game and it ran very smoothly for me. HOWEVER, it should be noted that I play with a controller, and although it IS possible to play Far Cry with a controller, it's not ideal and there are some things that you have to use a keyboard (such as assigning the less used things like flashlight or nightvision goggles)
The actual gameplay also handles well, I get a strong feeling of the early Halo games when playing Far Cry, the guns are fairly varied and although there are some guns that are without a doubt the stronger choices, I did feel that the game gives you enough of a variety of enemies and environments that I had to change my strategy occasionally between SMG's, Snipers, Assualt Rifles etc.
THE BAD
First off, a huge issue I had with the game that ALMOST stopped me from playing at the very beginning.
The difficulty.
This game is hands down, one of the hardest games that I have EVER played. I've been playing FPS for a long time so i felt that it was reasonable to go into Far Cry wanting to enjoy the story, so I set the difficulty to Medium. I couldn't even get past the first wave of enemies on the first level without being killed instantly, the enemies seemed to have some super human level of targetting.
I thought, maybe I am just not as good at FPS as i used to be, so i lowered the difficulty all the way to the easiest level and although I was (just about) able to clear the first group of enemies, I still struggled massively. It wasn't until I googled to see if anyone else had faced difficulties that I found there was a well known issue with AI having ability to shoot through walls. (Not ideal lol)
So after installing a patch to lower the difficulty significantly I then found the game challenging, but fun.
Next, the voice acting and generally the story as well is god awful, whenever Jack Carver or any of the other characters talk, i cringe because it feels like i'm just listening to someone leaving a voice message on their phone. PLUS the sound levels seem to be all over the place, the characters voice being VERY quiet and sometimes I struggled to even hear what they said.
FINAL VERDICT
Far Cry is legendary game, it's the first of a long standing series that although changed massively over time, still held onto some of the roots from this first game. I wouldn't say that Far Cry has too much replayability for me as there are no Steam achievements and not much else to do other than the main story.
That being said, it's fun, creeps me out in some places, and gives me that nostalgic hit of FPS games from my childhood. I'd recommend, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, make sure you download the patch to lower the difficulty before you end up rage quitting after the first wave of enemies
REVIEW RATING: 5/10
I just replayed that game I finished many times 20 years ago. Would I recommend it? Hardly. It's very old school and it has the same vibe as f.e.a.r. 1, especially for health management. But unlike f.e.a.r., this game is now for weird reasons extremely difficult. I finished it many time on normal difficulty when it was released. But today, I could barely finish it on the easiest difficulty, and only because I could usually quickly kill the enemies before they shoot. It seems that some kind of update ruined the balance of the game.
But it's still playable on the easiest mode. It just has some "that part" moment that needs a lot of die and retries to go through. I recommend it, but only to those who are used to the 2000 fps games before Halo's regen system.
The story is forgettable, the dialogs are cheesy, and the animations are dated. The stealth system is imperfect, but it works (on easiest mode). The only real reason I see to play that game is to play again with the idea of attracting the enemies to a point while walking the other way to invade the base and kill those who stayed. Too bad that this part disappears at the end of the game, when it's only fights against trigens equipped with rocket launchers. And the last map is very disappointing and hard for bad reasons. It is hard because you have nowhere to hide and you get hit all the time by hitscan enemies from the other side of the map. But once you figure out the sole strategy to survive this map, it's pretty easy. Exactly the opposite of what the game should be.
This game aged surprisingly well - the visuals are actually quite good and the gunplay is satisfying. I will say the voice acting has me laughing out loud but i actually really enjoyed my time with it.
The AI are far too OP though, they can see you through walls half the time.
Edit: After playing the game more i still agree with everthing i said above. Although unfortunately i literally cannot finish the game due to the game simply being too hard. There are very few medkits around, meaning i go into every fight with 1HP and end up dying over and over again. I even activated cheats at one point to try to fly to my mission (because i spent 30 mins for one checkpoint) and still got sniped out the sky.
While I still do recommend the game, for the love of god choose the easiest difficulty (bare in mind i played on the 2nd and still got destroyed)
Far Cry is a game where you start as a normal guy and, within an hour, become a one-man extinction event. You’ll go from sneaking through the jungle to blowing up helicopters with a Molotov you found in a shack. The enemies have military training, but unfortunately, I have main character syndrome.
The story? Some evil dictator wants to rule a tropical paradise. My response? Systematically wiping out his entire bloodline with a bow and arrow. The AI tries to stop me, but they have the intelligence of boiled potatoes—watching a guard investigate his friend’s corpse only to get stabbed in the exact same spot is peak comedy.
Memorable moments include:
Shot a guy in the foot, he went flying like I hit him with a truck.
Threw a rock as a distraction, enemy stared at it for 45 seconds like it contained the meaning of life.
Set myself on fire. Twice.
Drove a jeep off a cliff, survived. The jeep didn’t.
Liberated an outpost using only a hunting knife and pure spite.
Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. It’s not just a shooter—it’s a wildlife documentary featuring explosions.
A Game 21 Years old and still runs like a charm.
For how it was released back then and the impact it had, it's crazy that a remaster was never thought of.
The story:
Fun, oldschool and kind of trashy.
But that's part of the charm.
Gameplay:
The Gun choice is pure peak. G36C with underbarrel granade launcher, MK3A1, HK XM29, M4, Deagle, Arctic Warfare, M202, P90, MP5 SD and the M249.
All of the Guns have a deep impact even in the endgame and all of them feel pretty amazing too.
I think more Games should include prototype kind of guns from reallife.
Graphics:
Unfortunately, since the game is so old, it doesn't run as well on higher end systems.
You can combat this with mods, which works really well.
Rating:
Maybe it's nostalgia, but this game hits all the right spots every year.
10/10
The game tries to sell you the idea that you can play stealthily, even having a stealth-o-meter on the hud, but it lies to you. You can crouch and move as slowly as you like, it doesn't matter. Enemies will detect you no matter how silently and slowly you move. They will spot you hundreds of feet away with an empty stealth-o-meter and even simply looking at them through a weapon's scope will sometimes cause them to detect you.
Fun and hard. I played a lot of these old games back in 2015 and I still do. Unfortunately this one I already watched mostly on youtube so I didn't get the chance to play it for the first time or something.
So hard yet so fun, definitely give this game a try (don't mind the jank)
at first it was fun, after that it just hurts
superhuman AI, shooting through walls, seeing you through walls
it's just not fun after the first 10 stages
2/10
Why is this game actully pretty fun? Holds up well as a basic shooter. Though a bit hard at parts and resource managment is a major aspect. Feels like I have nothing at almost all times and I love it for that
Typical old game. Shooting and aiming is bad, you can get softlocked in some missions, enemies are ludicrously tough and can shoot and spot you through objects, helicopters and boats are basically everywhere (sometimes if you take a step to the water the boat instantly spawns and oblterates you) and you are basically 90% of the game on low hp.
Just nah
For someone trying out the game for the first time, this game was quite awful.
The first about ten levels aren't bad, the gameplay is fine, and the twist later is fun and refreshing.
It's just that the last ten levels are the most frustrating levels to play, and every second of the game from then on is agonizing and not worth your time. Perhaps it's a skill issue, and I should have played on easy mode. idk. Wouldn't recommend it. Only played it because I felt obligated to since I bought all of em in the bundle.
played it on the hardest diff AI was absolutely terrible the game was shit boring half of the time im wondering that the hell is going on just terrible game for 2004? people say this is the best first person shooter can we be realistic here please
This was such a nostalgic flash back and to tell you the truth, I think this game still stands strong when compared to the gameplay of other Fps right now. This game is really the bests of its time. I still remember when crytek release the tech video behind farcry and i was like waiting for the game to be released, it was so exciting back then.
The devs should fix the superhuman AI bug, I have found a community mod that will allegedly fix the problem, And I will give it another shot, and report back after some testing.
If i didn't have to fix it straight out of the gate, this would probably come recommended.
Can't in good conscience recommend this when its supposedly being sold bugged. The GoG version of the game comes with the fix packed in, and so should this steam version.....
If you are a stigler for buying all your games on steam, well, buy it, and install the mod yourself.
Link to the mod: https://www.moddb.com/games/far-cry/downloads/far-cry-fix-64-bit
It also fixes some aspect ratio stuff, and allegedly some later game crashes that are common on version 1.4 apparently.
This is supposedly a well known bug, and I was confused as hell when the enemies would see me from seemingly over the map. Shouldn't be an issue.
Played into the first little section, and it seems to be working with the mod.
